Fascinating treatment of motoring routes charting in tables and describing rather than mapping, although there are a number of general, simple maps at the front.

286 routes described giving such essential information as:

“The route from Tain by Meikle Ferry (uncertain) is not much use. Go by Route 284 to Clashmore. Thence it is an undulating but quite good road to Helmsdale. Thence the road is fairly trying with a bad hill at Berriedale, but after Latheron it is a fine road through Wick to John O’Groats”

Undated but thought to be around 1924 as the address includes Newington Road, Edinburgh, which G & I moved to in 1924. Probably a reprint of an earlier edition.

Approx 6″ x 3.5″

The covers are a little bumped and scuffed with a little wear top and bottom spine – inside early pages have a little staining at page edge (see photo) … one or two pages have small creases at edge but generally the pages are clean
